Dear Family and Friends,

As you probably know, Michael turns 3 years old on May 14th. To celebrate the three years of joy, laughs, love, and kindness Michael has given all of us, we will be walking in the Congenital Heart Walk on Long Island – which just happens to fall on Michael’s birthday.

The walk benefits the Children’s Heart Foundation – an incredible organization dedicated to improving congenital heart defect (CHD) research. Through 2010, the Children's Heart Foundation has contributed an astounding $4.1 million toward 41 revolutionary CHD research studies. As the country's leading organization solely committed to CHD research funding, CHF dedicates itself to bringing health, hope and happiness to children and families impacted by a CHD.

Here are just some of the facts about CHD:

• Nearly two million children and adults are living with a congenital heart defect (CHD) in the United States.
• Each year approximately 40,000 babies are born with a CHD, making it the country’s #1 birth defect.
• Thanks to increases in survival rates, the number of adults living with a CHD rises by 5% a year and adults with CHDs are living longer, fuller lives than ever before. Your support will continue the progress.
