all you need is love

Where to begin?! So much has happened! I apologize once again for the lack of blogging. I think two things have held me back: One is being so busy with my little one and never wanting to let him go. Secondly, I have been extremely worried about the timing of Michael's next open heart surgery and have not wanted to part from him for one second.

I am gleaming to report that Michael is doing so well, the doctors don't think he will need his next open heart surgery until late September / early October! I was prepared for him to have the surgery in two weeks as they originally told us he would need it. And that is just too soon! So we thank all of you for your prayers, thoughts and positive energy because it is working! Our Mighty Mick is still defeating all odds.

He amazes the doctors. With every visit he keeps doing better instead of worsening, which typically happens by this point. His saturation levels reached 91 yesterday which are the highest yet! When they get to 70 he will need the next open heart.

Our new cardiologist said during Mick's last visit, “Did we just luck out on how good he was today or is he always like that?"
I told him that Michael's mom and dad just lucked out with the best baby. He is always like this, simply wonderful and lovely. Tommy laughed at my choice of words but agreed in that he is the BEST!! And no surprise to us that Mick continues to amaze everyone he meets. Our new cardiologist is the one that reported the good news on the postponement of the surgery. The doctor could not believe that Mick went though all of that he did and he is doing this well!

Tommy and I left that appointment on cloud nine. My birthday wish came true!

Here are many pictures of the Best Baby for you to enjoy!
I have many more from the camera that will come soon!

Quick Recaps:

Back July 4th weekend:
Granddad had Michael laughing hysterically for the first time we could have a good chuckle. Granddad has a way with the babies to get the best laugh!

Nanny was able to spend the day with Michael giving him plenty of snuggles from everyone in England, Ireland, and Moog.

Nanny and Granddad bought Michael his most precious Christening outfit. We will be celebrating August 16th in NYC.

Nanny, Granddad, and Ashling had to get back to Buffalo. We had a lovely visit before they hit the road. We had such a special time with them and had so much celebrating during their time in NYC. It was certainly a weekend we will never forget! Auntie Sarah was able to stay.

Auntie Sarah babysat Little Mick while his mommy and daddy went to the Red Sox/Yankee game. I called at least fifteen times to check in and Sarah had never put him down. She saw first hand how hard it is to let him go because he is so sweet and good. Mick loved his time with Auntie Sarah. We were so grateful for Sarah to watch him. She was the best! Tommy surprised me with the tickets it was a really great treat. We had the best time with excellent seats (thanks to Tommy's Co-worker) and it certainly helped knowing Mick was in great hands. When we returned, we took Sarah out to dinner to celebrate her birthday! That is where we had our first family photo.

Sunday, was Wimbelton. Sarah had the train for 3:00 but could not leave for what was the best tennis match in history. We were all glued to the television and Mick was taking it all in. It was special for Sarah, the tennis pro, to watch it with her little Mick. Sarah sadly had to leave. We loved our time with Auntie Sarah. We can't wait for her to return!

Uncle Sean's visit:
Sean arrived on Monday, saying he had never been more excited! When he saw Michael for the first time he was smiling ear to ear. I have never seen my brother so happy. He held him right away. I was trying to show him pictures of Michael and he said, "Meg I don't need to see them. I have the real thing in front of me. I just want to enjoy these moments holding him." I thought it was so cute of him to say. He was truly savoring every second with Mick. He said, "I have been waiting my whole life for this moment!" I started to tear up, so I then left him for his time with little Michael James.

No offense to everyone who has helped me with Mick, but Sean was the greatest! This is because I was able to bark orders at him and he did everything I asked! Now that is only because he is the only person I know who I could bark orders to without feeling incredibly rude. He took it all, and was awesome! I had a lot going on that week, with Michael's 4 doctors appointments, so having Sean was just what I needed.

Sean did not know what was in store for him. The poor kid. I dragged him to the hospital for Mick's visit without breakfast. We just did not have time. We had to have Mick's blood drawn to make sure his medicine was not making him sick. Unfortunately, Mick had the worst nurse who could not get Mick's vein. Michael was showing off his strong lungs and in efforts to calm him down, I was saying, "It is ok Michael you will be fine." I really wanted to rip out the needle and yell at the nurse. I also began to bark at poor Sean, "Get me his pillow...Get me his bottle...Get me his blanket," doing whatever I could to calm Michael down. After the blood was drawn and Michael was calm, I turned and poor Sean was in full sweats and the color of his Green Shirt. He said, "Meg I don't feel so good."

Poor Sean blacked out. We got him a seat, food and a Gatorade. He then bounced back like a champ; he said that never happened to him. He contributes it to having to run back and forth for Michael's things, not eating, and loving Michael so much.

He was so upset that there was nothing he could do for Mick. Hearing him cry and the nurse unable to find a vein was hard to watch. I agreed, he then said but is nice to know that I could love someone that much, I have never felt that type of love. Sean may be upset that I am sharing this all with you, but I think it is a great story showing what a wonderful person and Uncle Sean is. He took right to the role as the Best Uncle EVER!!!

Michael loved being with him! You can see in all the Pics. I knew Sean was the best uncle, when I had to run to the social worker's office to apply for Medicaid because Mick was over 30 days in the NICU. I called to check in and he said oh we are great I had to take him out of his car seat because Michael wanted to burp, and I got a great one out of him. I am just holding him now reading him a story.

We then took Sean to his Bus home.

That weekend we took Mick to Central Park, We took him out of the carriage for the first time. We sat under the most beautiful tree and enjoyed our time as a family. We read stories and played games. On our walk back we heard Bon Jovi warm up for the free concert he was having. Michael got to hear his first free concert. Tommy was one proud papa pushing Mick around the park. He was hysterical trying to find new paths in the park to take Mick. We had the most wonderful time!

Last week Michael and I went to my Parents beach condo in Hull, Ma. Tommy had a busy work week so we decide it was a good time to get out of the city heat. Michael had his very first train ride! Tommy was so great he brought us right on the train before he had to go to work. Thanks to his Nanny and Granddad Michael has the Best stroller in the world!! He slept nice and peacefully for almost the whole trip. When he was awake he could not get enough of all the sights he saw! Grampa was there to greet us right when we got off. While Nana was getting ready for Michael James at home. Then it was off to their magical beach condo. It was Michael's first time in fresh sea air, and there is nothing like it!

Michael met many new friends his Nana was the Hostest with the mostest! We had a revolving door of visitors and she made all feel so welcome. She had all of the best foods for all to enjoy, she was ment to be an entertainer. Specail THANKS to Nana for making it feel like a party every day for little Mick!

I will recap the week later, Mick is calling here are pics from my cell I have tons from our week on our camera so I will down load later>

Love to all

Well, if a picture tells a thousand words, Mick is on his way to a ten-pound novel.

He looks so adorable, enjoying his first sea air, his first visit to Hanlon's (the shoe store that his Great-Great Grandfather founded and Great-Grandfather, Great-Uncles, and now, Great-cousins carried on), his first train ride, and his first adorable pose as a golfer (although he looks a little like a Newsie).

Sending lots of love to little Mick and his wonderful parents.

Love,
Caitlin
