Michael continues to amaze us.
He had a tough night, as the sedation medication wore off and he started to become increasingly aware of his unusual condition and environment. But, by his side were his mom and dad, comforting him with head rubs and soothing him with song. As the night wore on, Mick's stats continued to improve and the swelling decreased to the point where he was able to chow down on a bottle. This is a huge feat.
This morning, when Megan and Thomas returned from a mass performed by Father Don, his eyes widened and he gazed at them adoringly, with an inquisitive, "Why aren't you holding me"-look. With his mobile above him and parents by his side, Michael is improving and recognizing all the love that surrounds him.
As he continues to heal, we celebrate the leaps of progress and appreciate the brilliant and caring minds who have guided this journey. The team will continue to monitor his lung function, doing all they can to remove the fluid, and watch his saturation levels closely.
Michael still has a way to go and your thought and prayers sustain our spirits and strength. Thank you.
Carry on, little Mick.

So glad to hear that little Mick is coming off the sedation. If love could heal, he would be running up and down the halls of the hospital. I'm sure that the love and support of his Mom and Dad will give him great comfort. Keep up the good work!
Love and hugs to all,
Ellie and Jeff
