Michael is doing well. He still has fluid in his lungs which has caused the upper right lobe to collapse (but this is not alarming). They are working on getting rid of this fluid and when they do, they will be able to extubate him.
Michael's nurse, Debbie, just reported that when she took his gas levels (the amount of oxygen in his blood), they were just right.
The medical team continues to watch his swelling and lungs, but are overall pleased with Michael's progress, saying he is going in the right direction. They have started taking Michael off of his sedation medications, since this is necessary in order to extubate him. It will still be at least a couple of days before they wear off, but in the meantime, he's soothed by his mom singing and rubbing his head, his dad holding his hand, and his slightly hypnotic mobile music.
Lots of love to all. Carry on with the healing, Mick!
