When we first found out that our baby had HLHS the cardiologist painted the worst possible picture of what our life/ his life would be. As soon as we got home I was glued to the Internet. I stayed awake until 1 am every night trying to find out as much as I could. In my search I found many Blogs and website of children that had HLHS. These sites were a great comfort, all of the children looked amazing for having the most sever heart disease. It was looking at these children when I thought WE CAN DO THIS, He is going to make it!! As my research continued I became extremely concerned that there was little information or Blogs of children over the age of 5. I knew that all HLHS babies had a 75% chance of making it past the age of 5, that statistic is based on the three surgeries. For our First appointment with our cardiologist Dr. Klinemnm ( our favorite Doctor), I brought up my concern. I asked Why is it that most parents discontinue their blogs after the age of 4, do their children not make it? His response was "no, in fact their survival rate increases after the age of 5. The parents stop because they are busy being parents and their children are busy being kids. For nine months that stuck in my head, wondering if we would have that experience.
Well, I am happy to report that the reason I have not been able to blog is because I have been busy being a parent, loving every second!!!
I now have time to share with you our memorable days together
Thursday we had our very first walk together. I cried at least ten times. It was emotional to have Michael smell, see and hear things for the first time. He saw His first bird, horse and buggie, the zoo, play ground, trees, and other children playing. My son smelt his first flower, clean air, hot dog stand, and fresh cut grass. The sounds of jazz music, solo flute, birds singing and children laughing filled the park. All though the greatest was our walk through the canopy, it has always been my favorite part of the park. For me to be able to walk him through like all the other mom's was something special. The walk though central park was certainly one to remember.
I will write more of our day soon Have to run to my little one, it's feeding time got to fatten him up!
Love to al
.

Our final destination was to Daddy's office, I had my doctor's apt. and needed a sitter Daddy daycare was a big hit. Tommy loved having his son at his office.

It's so great to see those pictures of you guys going out and doing family stuff! I love the updates, but I love that you are all out there living in the bright, beautiful sunshine even more. So keep them coming, but only when you have quiet down time - the site should never interrupt family time. Wonderful to see you all doing so great! Love, Katie
Mama and Dad, we are all so happy for you to have little Mick in your lives. He is a blessed child to have such loving parents. What a thrill to have all the firsts!!
We are so happy to have you sharing Michael with us since we live so far from you. What a beautiful child. We will keep the prayers coming and are so thankful for him and the time we all have to get to know him. Look forward to meeting Tom and Mick and seeing Proud mama! Hope to see you in Aug. when we are in CT. We plan to see the proud Grandma/pa C. in Aug.too. mav and wayne in Christ, with our love.
we should all be blessed to have such a amazing miracle as part of our lives. Everyday I look at his pictures or just from talking to Meg about him and joy fills my heart. There is no problem or situation that compares in my life to what baby mick has gone through for his first few weeks of life. Meg I can't say enough how blessed I truly feel have that constant remember in my life. I love you guys so much and can't wait to see little Mick, Tommy and yourself. I'm just fearful that if I head to NYC I won't be coming back to Boston... Because of little Mick. Love you all and don't worry Meg about blogging everyday, it is far more important to fatten Mick up.
Love,
Sean Michael

The photos are incredible, he is just so adorable. Michael is probably the youngest "bring your child to work!" baby & obviously loves the great excursions w/Mom. Auntie Sarah will be popping in today, enroute from UK with lots of baby treats for you all to enjoy. Can't wait to see him. Thomas' cousin, Aisling is on her way from Newcastle UK & is very excited to visit NYC & the world's famous "blog baby!

Megan, you are doing exactly what you should be doing - enjoying every second with your baby. Your description of your walk proves how much Michael has taught all of us: to enjoy the simple moments and miracles of every day. As much as we love reading the blog, don't let it become stressful for you. Your only concern should be enjoying your family.
Love and hugs,
Ellie and Jeff
How wonderful that you are having such wonderful baby time after so much time of concern. Michael just keeps getting bigger and,if possible, more handsome. What a beautiful family you continue to make. Even if it's less often, we still love the blog. Thank you for the gift you give us.
Love and God bless,
Jim and Joan
LIttle Mick seems to be settling in as a New Yorker! What a cutie - and by the looks of those cheeks, he's filling out quite nicely! :)
