Eye of the Tiger

What a big day for little Michael.

He had a nice visit from his Nannie and Daddy this afternoon. They got a chance to enjoy his company and watch him sleep peacefully. His dad left some lyrics on his night stand to remind him of all the love that surrounds him. With so many people sending their thoughts and prayers, Michael knows he'll never walk alone.

Tonight, his Nana & Grandpa got to visit. Megan got to change his diaper and Michael, again, took the opportunity to attempt a christening of his Nana. One of these days we'll learn.

Meg has been able to pump and freeze her breast milk, so it will be all set when Michael is ready. She's doing great with it, and like she's taken on all of this, it's like she's been a mother in waiting.

Michael's been called a "tiger" by his Grandpa because he's so strong. He was ready to pull out an annoying tube when the nurse remarked on his unparalleled strength. Ahh...the might of a fighting Irishman. It will get him far.

He has tubes in his nose to help regulate his breathing. They don't actually have oxygen, but instead help relieve his heart and lungs from having to work too hard. He has a hat on his head that is helping to keep these tubes in place. He also has a cover over his forehead to track his brain waves (this is for a medical study that Michael's a part of). There is a cloth around his mouth to keep the pacifier near him, since he's already eager to nurse. Everyone has said that he's doing well and that all the sleep will help him get through his surgery.

Thanks again for the comments and thoughts. It is so fun for us to read through them throughout the day.

Lots of Love, from Michael Central.
